The Left Panel combines a vertical widget rail with the selected panel content. By default, the Left Panel contains: Your panel layout is a user preference, so moving an item changes where it appears for you across projects.

Using the widget rail

Select an icon in the widget rail to open it. The selected item is indicated by a highlighted background. Hover over an icon to see its name and keyboard shortcut. Project Settings and Scratchpad appear at the bottom of the rail as utility launchers. They open workspace pages and are not movable widgets.

Moving widgets

Drag any widget icon from the Left Panel to the Right Panel’s tab header or panel body. The moved widget becomes active in the Right Panel immediately. You can also right-click a widget and select Move to Right Panel. Use the Position submenu to move it to the beginning or end of its current panel.

Showing and hiding widgets

Right-click blank space in the widget rail to manage all compatible widgets:
  • Checked widgets are visible in the Left Panel.
  • Widgets with a minus are visible in the Right Panel.
  • Unchecked widgets are hidden.
Selecting an unchecked or opposite-panel widget makes it visible in the Left Panel. The same menu includes Reset Panel Layout. If the Left Panel has no visible widgets, its empty state remains available as a drop target and provides a Move widget here menu.

Showing and hiding the panel

Use the Left Panel toggle in the workspace tab bar or press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + I to collapse or restore the complete panel.
